Portsmouth Ferry Services

Portsmouth has multiple ferry destinations across France, Spain and the Channel Islands. Ideal for both short breaks and longer holidays.

French destinations are Caen, Cherbourg, Le Havre and St Malo. Bilbao in Spain, and Jersey and Guernsey in the Channel Islands. Services are run by Brittany Ferries, Condor Ferries, LD Lines and P&O Ferries.

Brittany Ferries

Brittany Ferries serve Caen, Cherbourg and St Malo in France, and Santander in Northern Spain. are the low cost fast ferry operator of the Channel.

On the Portsmouth to Caen route, there are up to 4 crossings per day. Passengers on this route have a choice of either our high speed service taking you into the heart of northern France in just 3 ¾ hours, or a classic cruise ferry on which you can enjoy fine dining, excellent shopping and comfortable cabins on your crossing to France taking around 6 hours.

Newhaven

Newhaven, in East Sussex is surrounded by chalk downland, including the famous Seven Sisters sea cliffs and the Cuckmere valley to its east and Peacehaven and Brighton to the West. The closest Channel port to Central London, the harbour sits at the mouth of the River Ouse, hosting a marina and a working fishing fleet. The main heritage attraction is Newhaven Fort, built in the 1860s to deter invaders. Today it offers a warm welcome to anyone looking a look into England’s dramatic wartime past.

Transmanche Ferries offer crossings from Newhaven to Dieppe all year round and up to three times a day. They operate two modern vessels on the route, Seven Sisters and the Côte d’Albâtre, taking four hours for the crossing to Dieppe in Upper Normandy. Dieppe is handily placed for onwards connections to Paris and the rest of Northern France.

LD Lines, the sister company of Transmanche Ferries also offers a seasonal service from Newhaven to Le Havre.

Eurotunnel provides the fastest and most frequent cross-Channel service to France. Folkestone to Calais takes just 35 minutes, with a minimum 30 minute check-in.

Passengers stay with their vehicle throughout the journey in bright, air-conditioned carriages. Sit back and relax, or get out and stretch your legs, or watch the visual display screens that provide information about your journey.

The Port of Ramsgate is an alternative to Dover, being situated in the South East corner of England with easy access to the North Sea and English Channel. The road access is excellent with a dedicated access road and it is only 60 minutes from England’s arterial hub the M25.

Transeuropa Ferries currently run three return services each day between Ramsgate and Oostende (Ostend) in Belgium.

Services from Dover provide the fastest sea crossings to France. The port provides ferry services to Calais, Boulogne and Dunkerque (Dunkirk).

There are currently four ferry operators at Dover. Norfolkline, P & O Ferries and SeaFrance provide traditional Ro-Ro ferry services from the Eastern Docks, whilst SpeedFerries provide a fast ferry service from the Hoverport in the Western Docks.

SpeedFerries

SpeedFerries are the low cost fast ferry operator of the Channel. With a crossing time of only 50 minutes, they operate between the Hoverport at the Western Docks in Dover to Boulogne. With exclusive port facilities on both sides of the Channel and no freight or coach traffic, foot and car passengers experience something different to any other ferry operator.

With a spacious sundeck surrounded by the beautiful views of the White Cliffs of Dover, Cote D’Opale or the sea, you can sit back and enjoy the view, a nice breeze and truly feel the high speed of the vessel.  There is also Premier Class, which includes reserved seating at the top deck with direct access to the sundeck, all accompanied by waiter service.

With an excellent array of restaurants, sites of historical interest, small boutiques and a newly opened casino; Boulogne is a town of genuine charm. Speedferries operate up to five crossings daily.

P&O Ferries

With a journey time of 90 minutes journey time, P&O’s Dover to Calais ferry crossing is a quick and enjoyable way to hit the Continent. With crossings, round the clock, you can choose from up to 25 sailings a day.


SeaFrance

SeaFrance is the only French owned cross-Channel ferry operator on the Dover to Calais route with up to fifteen daily return crossings.

Norfolkline

Norfolokline’s cross channel ferries run from Dover to Dunkerque with an approximate crossing time of 1 hour 45 minutes. There are up to seven sailings per day.
